This Technical Bulletin serves as a supplement to the original Service Manual, file number 330-200106.  Please refer to this
bulletin in conjunction with the original Service Manual when servicing this model.
 
Product Safety Precautions:
Product Safety Precautions are described in the Toshiba service manual(s) for models covered in this bulletin.  All safety
precautions and checks shall be complied with before returning the equipment to the customer.  Servicers who defeat safety
features or fail to perform safety checks may be liable for any resulting damages and may expose themselves and others to
possible injury. 
 
 
Application: The information contained in this bulletin applies only if you encounter the
symptom(s) listed below.
 
Subject:  Improved Software Upgrade Procedures
 
Information Item:  The following procedure should be fully followed to upgrade the MT-
5 Projector to the latest software version.  The latest version of software may be
acquired by contacting the Toshiba Technical Support Group.
1)  Connect the “M1-A” (Part Number SP-DVI-A) service interface cable to the “PC
1” port on the MT-5 Projector.  Confirm that AC is removed from the projector. 
Connect the opposite end of the “M1-A” cable to the USB port and Monitor port of
the computer.   
 
2)  Boot the computer and locate the stored “MT-5” folder on your computers hard
drive or from the Toshiba supplied CD-Rom.  Open the “v3.6” sub-folder and
launch the “Flash USB v1.6.exe program See Fig. 1.
 
3)  Apply AC power to the MT-5 Projector.  Momentarily depress the “Power” button
on the MT-5 Projector to power the projector to the on condition.  Immediately
proceeding the “Power On Chime,” depress simultaneously and hold the
“Source” and “Stand By” buttons on the MT-5 Projector.  Note:  The “Source”
and “Stand By” buttons must be depressed simultaneously and held within
one second preceding the “power on chime.”  Continue to depress the
“Source” and “Stand By” buttons until a connected indication is indicated.  See
