SUBJECT: How to repair TV with Cable Card issues.
SYMPTOM: Known TV issues related to Cable Card feature. This applies to 2005
and 2006 models only.
1. TV resets itself On/Off, and remote control does not work. TV works fine without Cable Card.
• Detail: Too much NTT being sent by Head End.
2. “Updating Channel List” does not go away.
• Detail: This problem is due to the fact that SVCT has not been received.
3. Pairing Screen shows “Information not available” or an invalid CableCARD error message.
• Detail: TV looks for STT (System Time Table) to set time automatically. If Host and
CableCARD try to bind without system time, then binding will fail.
4. “No Signal” message or both picture and sound has distortion. TV can not tune to 669 MHz
channels.
5. TV can not tune to TNT HD despite having CableCARD revalidated.
6. TV stuck in SA (Scientific Atlanta) Firmware Upgrade.
• Detail: Problem only occurs with Scientific Atlanta Cable Cards.
7. Digital channel has picture tiling issue.
• Detail: SNR (signal to noise ratio) should be above 30dB on problem channel.
8. Losing certain channels and always need to do manual channel list reorganization.
• Detail 1: When Head End performs any channel-lineup changes such as MPEG number or
channel frequency, sets with old firmware can not detect and updated new channel map.
• Detail 2: Channel List Reorganization will reorganize the channel map and update it, but will
have to manually be performed every time.
9. No Video, only Audio or vice versa.
• Detail: Private PID in PMT causing the problem.
