Subject: Sound from AV device connected to TV via HDMI is interrupted when TV is in standby
PROBLEM:
Suppose the customer has an external AV device connected to the TV via an HDMI cable. When the TV is turned on, the sound playback from the AV device is fine; however, when the TV is in standby mode, the sound playback from the AV device is cut off on a regular basis (every 15 minutes) for a fraction of second.
CAUSE:
This symptom is caused by the TV switching to the semi-standby mode while in the standby mode (turned off by the power button of the remote). While the TV is in standby mode, it switches regularly between semi-standby and standby. When the TV switches to the semi-standby mode, the AV receiver or AV amplifier detects the activation of the HDMI and the sound is interrupted.
SOLUTION:
This behaviour is a specification of the Android TV OS and is not considered a defect. As a workaround, the customer can unplug the TV from the wall socket when not in use (note: the issue discussed in this document occurs only when the TV is in standby mode.)
IMPORTANT: Do not exchange any TV spare parts (Mainboard, etc.) because of this issue.
