Application: The information contained in this bulletin applies only if you encounter the
symptom(s) listed below.
Subject: Lamp Blower Contact Failure Can Prevent Lamp Strike.
Symptom: The lamp blower in projector model TDP-MT8U may fail to receive power
through the lamp blower contact ECA. As a result, the projector may exhibit
a "fan failure" error code (four red flashes in a repeating sequence) at the
status LED on the top case during startup. The lamp will not strike if the
projector detects this error.
Corrective Action: : Contact fingers on the lamp blower contact ECA provide power to
the blower through a small circuit board on the lamp module.
Occasionally contact misalignment; corrosion, or interference from
the front IR receiver cable can prevent power from reaching the
lamp blower. If the blower fails to receive power during projector
power up, the status LED may flash a repeated four-flash red
sequence, indicating fan failure. Restoring the electrical path to the
blower restores proper projector operation.
