Software Upgrade Procedure for FL-1E Chassis
SYMPTOM
This Technical Bulletin describes the software upgrading procedure for the FL-1E chassis. It solves, amongst
others, the problems mentioned in Technical Bulletin 09TV020, to which also the software update file is attached.
• A BE-JIG is needed to perform a software upgrade, because the TV set is lacking a MS slot. If you are not in
possession of this jig, contact your local Sales Company on how to obtain it.
• All micros can be updated via Memory Stick: Digital micro (Emma), Main Micro (VCTp), STBY micro (VERD),
Panel micro & Frame Rate Converter (FRC-M).
• If the upgrading package is identical to the new one, the Memory Stick will only update the Digital micro. If the
upgrading package is different (older or newer), the Memory Stick will upgrade all micros.
SOLUTION
Follow the procedure and guidelines below for a correct software update.
Memory Stick Preparation
• Remove unnecessary files from the MS before copying data.
• Use a Memory Stick formatter to format. Windows formatters are not supported.
• A special Sony format program can be downloaded from:
http://support.sony-europe.com/memstick/downloads/downloads_ms.asp?l=en&f=MSFRM#disc• Also a digital camera can be used (recommended option).
• After formatting, the MS content is just a Memstick.ind file.
• The flash size must be 16 MB or more (NO Magic Gate Pro function).
NOTES
• In case of problems during upgrading, disconnect and reconnect the AC cable with the Memory Stick still
inserted, and try to upgrade again.
• The NVM data will be updated automatically with the area for adjustment masked.
• DO NOT remove the Memory stick or AC cable when upgrading the set.
