Fan Failure error: Media Box
Symptoms / Customer Description
I am getting a message on the screen that states Fan Error.
[Primary Symptom Code: 213X ]
Cause
A Fan error or Fan stopped may occur caused be a defective lot with excessive grease applied to the bearings. This causes the fan to stop at abnormal positions. When the unit is turned on again the fan may fail to start.
Solution
NOTE: The serial numbers specified within this bulletin are for the Media Receiver Unit (MRU). Please make sure that you are looking at the serial number of the MRU and NOT the Display Section serial number.
Step 1) There are two (2) fans in the MRU. One fan pulls air into the box while the other pushes it out. Please note the proper position and installation as you may need to replace the fans and the correct installation is critical.
Step 2) Verify that the G board (Inside the MRU) is providing voltage to the fans. This can be done by pressing the power on button and checking G bd. CN 6101, pins 1 and 3. They should be 7.7VDC. Also verify that G bd. CN6005, pin 9 is 3.1VDC. The 7.7VDC is for power the fans and the 3.1VDC is the fan control to turn them on. If both of these voltages are present can the fans (part number 1-787-088-11). If one or more of these voltages are incorrect or missing replace the MRU (authorization required).
